Introduction

Your data is not just data here. It represents your accounts, your assets, and your family's future.

We designed InheriBit so that we cannot read your sensitive information, even if we wanted to. This policy explains what we collect, what we do not collect, and how your data is handled.

What we do not have access to

We do not have access to your readable data. This includes:

  • passwords
  • account details
  • documents
  • personal notes

Your data is encrypted on your device before it is sent or stored.

What reaches our systems is encrypted and cannot be read without your keys and household password.

What data we collect

We collect only what is required to operate the service. This may include:

  • your email address
  • account metadata (such as creation time and usage activity)
  • household member relationships
  • request and access logs

This data helps us:

  • manage accounts
  • send notifications
  • process access requests
  • maintain system integrity

We do not use this data to read or infer your stored content.

Encryption and storage

Your data is encrypted before it leaves your device.

We store:

  • encrypted data blobs
  • encrypted backups

We do not store your data in plain text.

Even in storage, your data remains encrypted. It cannot be opened without your credentials and household password.

Emergency access handling

When an access request is raised:

  • we process the request based on your defined rules
  • we handle notifications and the request flow
  • we may perform verification before allowing access

Important:

We do not decrypt your data during this process.

Even after access is approved, the data remains encrypted. It can only be unlocked using the household password.

Backup handling

If you create a backup:

  • it is encrypted before storage
  • it may be stored on our servers or downloaded by you

Even if someone has the backup file and the household password, they still cannot access the data unless the verification process is completed.

Household data

We store basic information about your household, such as:

  • who is part of your household
  • relationships between members
  • access permissions

This information is required to enforce your rules. We do not expose this information publicly.

Notifications

We use your contact details to send:

  • access request alerts
  • reminders
  • system updates

In case of an emergency request, we may send multiple notifications to ensure you have a chance to respond.

Security practices

We follow standard security practices including:

  • encrypted data storage
  • secure communication channels
  • strict internal access control

We design systems so that sensitive data is never exposed in readable form.

What we do not do

We do not:

  • sell your data
  • read your private information
  • use your stored content for analytics or training
  • share your data with third parties for marketing

Your control

You remain in control of your data. You can:

  • update your household and policies
  • export your encrypted backup
  • delete your account

Your data is handled based on your configuration.

Limitations

There are a few important things to understand:

  • If you lose your household password, your data cannot be unlocked.
  • Access depends on the rules you define.
  • The system does not override your configuration.

These are intentional decisions to protect your privacy.

Beta status

InheriBit is currently in beta.

We are continuously improving security, reliability, and user experience. Your feedback helps us refine the system.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated policy, unless we are required to obtain separate consent under applicable law.
